It's been raining, so I really can't do much. Did a little bit of digging around the pond's deep end. This is the overflow line. That little bit of pipe looking like the Loch Ness Monster - it even seems to have a tail - simply sat in the corner, chin resting on the ponds edge, and water flowed into it. No fuss, no muss. The line did have roots in it, though.
It seems so sad. Nessie has been exposed to be a fake.
Still trying to figure out the French drains. I know that one of them leads to the drip line of the patio roof. This is NOT that one. I believe that this might be my grandfather's original plan for the overflow drain. I did notice that one of the drains is attached to the down pipe of the gutter. Two down, two to go.
"Is this some kind of weird drain pipe?" you might ask. Nope. It's root mass that had completely filled a section of the pipe in the upper part of the picture. It was really impressive. The roots had completely taken the shape of the pipe's interior.
Next to my foot for scale.
I have NO idea why chain link fence was buried here. It's between the pond and the hatch for the house's crawlspace. I think it might be something my brother did to protect the French drain and help stop erosion. Also, more bricks. One thing I'm sure of, my grandfather didn't waste bricks. Broken or not, they got used.
It's Christmas, too.
