To begin with, the bridge. Once again, the dirt build up stuns me. I remember the original soil line being no higher than the half the shovel head.covering only the foot of the bridge. It would not have covered the bottom half of the shovel head.
Not sure if I mentioned it, but the mound in the background is the dirt that I moved in order to get the patio-side dirt level with the lawn on the opposite side.
Obviously, my plan is to dig out a trench and lift the pond out. Also, obvious, that's a RIDICULOUS plan. Honestly, I'm contemplating trying to remove the wall closest to me and the one to right. The left wall will stay in place to provide support for a new pond.
Note how deeply I've already dug, and that's the LOW end of the pond.
Scored a bunch of leaves from the neighbor. A composting I will go.
The prunings pile. This will go into the wood chipper, which I haven't bought...yet. I will have it, though. It calls to me. My grandfather just doesn't understand it. "It'll bring rats!" he declared about the pile. No, the storage shed that hasn't been opened in YEARS will bring any wildlife squatters.Miscellaneous crap that I've dug up. The sheet tin was used as a footer to protect the bottom of the wooden fence.
Just another view of prunings and crap.
Just some heavily distorted panoramic shots to put the work in perspective.
My transplanted kale is really coming along.
I really didn't believe that these guys would make it.This area is special. I planted some kale and radish, but did nothing else. All of the rest of the greenery grew wild. Much of it is clover. I'm really curious to see what dormant plants will grow from this disturbed soil.
This radish is getting HUGE. I've never heard of radishes getting like this. I wonder if we never see them this big just because we pick them long before this point. I wonder how long it will grow.
A pair of radishes growing very tightly together.
I made a couple of seed ball mixes. Each one included lettuce, carrots and radishes.
Crap! 'They' have found me. Now I have to move.
