August 8, 2012

No new work to post. Just some more images detailing the work on the third terrace and some of the growth in the lower loop bed. Once again, apologies for the distortion. I may just start layering instead of using the software to merge.

In the image below, I'm very pleased by how level the third tier has become. As I said in a far previous post, I'm surprised by how much slope occurred in this direction. Filling in this tier took all of my spare dirt. Looking to the far left of the image, the wall curves back to keep separation between the dirt and the wooden fence. I certainly didn't want to speed up the potential for rot by using the fence as the barrier for dirt.
I'm not sure what I want to do with the area around the gate. My tentative idea is to make steps climbing to the back of the garden. Simply not sure.

The lower loop bed looks good. It's only a test bed, but I really like the results. Honestly, when I planted all of these, I was almost desperate to plant something. The fact that I'm getting this kind of result is very exciting, and this is a bed in which I've done zero work on the soil.

Suburban Hermit of Fayetteville, signing off.
